MOFFAT and District Community Council is preparing to reconvene and welcome new members after being faced with dissolution.
A casual vacancy election returned applications from three individuals following the nomination period which ended on February 5.
The process was triggered after chairman, Dick Mongahan, and secretary, Lynn Anderson, stepped down from their roles, taking the group below the minimum number of representatives required to function.
The trio joining the council are Carole Williams, Dennis Leigh and Peter Watt.
As the number of nominations received did not exceed vacancies available, a ballot box is not necessary and the new councillors will be officially welcomed at the group’s EGM on Tuesday, March 9.
Moffat and District Community Council’s treasurer David Booth said:
“We’re still trying to stay in business for the benefit of windfarm grants, and we’re using them for covid stuff, and we’re making a lot of donations to the town hall and that’s helped them with food parcels, Christmas dinners, prescriptions and all that kind of stuff, they’re doing a cracking job.
“There’s no chair and no secretary, so we need to have an EGM to nominate them.
“The people that stand are still here, we’ve got three new members and we’re at quota again and that’s fine. So onwards and upwards.”
