Thumbs down to door plan

PROPOSALS to chop the bottoms off classroom doors in a bid to improve ventilation have been rejected by Dumfries and Galloway Council.

Last week, First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said that £5 million would be given to councils to improve air flow – and of that, £300k could be used to ‘undercut’ doors.

The suggestions received cross-party backlash, and concerns have been raised about fire safety.

And this week, a spokesman for Dumfries and Galloway Council said: “Dumfries and Galloway Council isn’t considering any alternations to doors in schools.”
