Thunder alert

A YELLOW weather warning has been issued for thunderstorms in Dumfries and Galloway from today.

The Met Office are forecasting storms with rain and lightning as well developing through the day and into the night across the region.

They say there is a ‘small chance’ of flooding as a result, as well as damage to buildings. There may also be travel delays and power cuts.

The warning is in place until tomorrow, Monday.

It comes after high temperatures locally over the last few days, with the mercury said to be at 29 degrees yesterday.
