TJ retires after 30 years in the hot seat

A FOND farewell has been said to a well known Moffat firefighter.

Tommy “TJ” Johnstone has retired after 30 years, two months and 15 days in the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS).

And this week a presentation was held to thank and honour him.

Station Commander McCartney presented Tommy with a certificate and gift on his retirement. There were also flowers for his wife Irene for her support.

Colleagues then spent time reminiscing and focusing on the good times spent with friends and at work.

A SFRS spokesperson said: “We thank TJ and his wife Irene for the commitment they have given to their community and wish them both well for the future.”
