Toilets closed after flood

LOCHMABEN’S public toilets have been closed after they flooded.

It happened after pipes burst at the facilities in Castle Street.

They are maintained by Dumfries and Galloway Council and a spokesman yesterday said: “The recent winter conditions have caused freezing to pipework in a number of facilities across Dumfries and Galloway.

“The hard frost and quick thaw has caused a number of pipes to burst. Where this has occurred, as is the case with a number of public toilets (most of which are unheated), the facilities have been closed and repairs allocated to the appropriate repairs team. The Lochmaben toilet remains closed awaiting repairs.”
