Too many consultations

STOP using jargon and carry out less consultations - those were the main messages from the public to Dumfries and Galloway Council.

The local authority have carried out a public consultation to find out views on . . . consultations.
And they key topics raised included:
* Allowing more time for consultations
* Carry out less of them
* Make the council’s website easier to use
* Only consult when there are multiple options and the views will really make a difference
* Tell people how their views have changed things
Following the study, a community participation and engagement framework will be designed with
individuals and community representatives including people who are seldom heard.
The final version will be edited by the Plain English Campaign to ensure that it is easy
for people to read and understand.
A report on the consultation on consultations will go before the communities committee in Dumfries next week.
