Top culinary contest spot for chef

DUMFRIES chef Fraser Cameron has been selected as a finalist in the prestigious Roux Scholarship 2025.

The Globe Inn’s head chef is one of 18 chefs to reach the top culinary competition’s final, renowned for identifying and nurturing the UK’s finest talent.

Fraser’s journey to the finals began with a blind recipe submission, where judges evaluated his creative use of two gurnard fish, mussels, dulse seaweed, and parsnips. His expertly crafted recipe, submitted anonymously, impressed the panel of esteemed judges during the recipe judging day held at The Waterside Inn in Maidenhead earlier this month.

The finals will be held on Thursday March 6 at University College Birmingham, where Fraser and his fellow finalists will prepare their dishes for the judging panel.

Reaching the finals is significant milestone for Fraser who has dubbed the experience a ‘dream come true’, stating: “I am incredibly honoured and excited to be a finalist in the Roux Scholarship, this is a dream come true, and I am grateful for the opportunity to showcase my skills alongside some of the best chefs in the country.

“I’m particularly looking forward to the challenge of the regional finals and representing The Globe Inn on this prestigious platform. The support from the team at The Globe has been invaluable, and I’m determined to make them proud.”
