ALFIE, Harris and Isla were the top baby names in Dumfries and Galloway last year.

The boys’ names were joint first with 12 babies each given the moniker; while there were 15 wee Islas.

Making up the rest of the boy’s top ten were Archie, which was was picked for 11 new arrivals locally; followed by Jack and Finn (10); Charlie (9); James and Reuben (8); and in tenth, all on seven, were Mason, Finlay, Arthur and Lewis.

For the girls, Millie and Ella were joint second with nine each; Sophie (7); Grace, Freya, Mollie and Maisie (6); then Lily, Ruby, Olivia, Willow, Ivy and Elsie (5).

Other popular names picked by the region’s parents in 2020 were Connie, Emily, Skye, Evie, Bella, Ava, Zara and Isabella, as well as Noah, Max, Lucas, Oliver, Rory, William. Adam, Leo, Theo, Angus and Oscar.
