GALLOWAY Forest Park has been crowned the number one stargazing destination in the world.

Astro-Tourism continues to become a huge trend with travellers seeking out the best spots all over the globe to stare endlessly at the night sky.

Car expert website stressfreecarrental.com recently compiled a list of the best places on earth to view stars, with the Galloway Forest coming out on top, with an estimated 7000 stars and planets visible to the naked eye.

Other locations featured on the list include Churchill in Canada; Northumberland, Malin Head in Northern Ireland as well as the White Desert in Egypt and La Palma in the Canary Islands.
