But health officials stressed there had been a ‘very speedy response’ at the site.
Furthermore, all new admissions and transfers have been temporarily halted too as work takes place around testing and an enhanced cleaning schedule.
A spokesman for Dumfries and Galloway Health and Social Care Partnership said: “It is possible that some services at Annan Cottage Hospital may be affected by the actions which are being undertaken, and anyone impacted by that will be contacted directly.”
He also explained that the visiting exemptions apply to routine visits only and there will be exceptions for end of life, children, and patients with mental health issues including dementia, learning disabilities and autism.
Annan Court Care Home continues to battle an outbreak of coronavirus too. A total of 21 cases have been recorded among residents, while several staff have also tested positive.
It is one of eight care homes across the region currently confirmed to be affected by the virus.
Meanwhile, 1825 new cases of covid were recorded in the region in the last week.
And hospitalisations as a result of the virus were up to 41 yesterday in Dumfries and Galloway, compared to 26 a week ago.
On January 6 there had been 21,854 positive PCRs overall in this area and in the last seven days that went up to 23,679.
