WORLD class! That’s the Royal Burgh of Annan Pipe Band after they triumphed at the world championships at the weekend.
They travelled to Glasgow for the World Pipe Band Championships, where they won first place in grade two and were also named grade two champion of champions.
A spokesperson said: “The band are absolutely delighted to be Grade 2 World Pipe Band Champions, along with picking up Grade 2 Champions of Champions Band and Drumming prizes.
“This is the perfect end to a fantastic season for us.
“Congratulations to all of our members for their stellar efforts throughout the year. Particular congratulations to our leadership team for this crowning accomplishment, and to the fantastic team of committee members and office bearers that have made winning the top prize possible.”
Annan was also named the 2023 Grade 2 Scottish Champions in Dumbarton in July; and enjoyed success at the European Pipe Band Championship in Aberdeen in June.
There are 43 members of the band, including pipers, drummers and a sound team. As well as locals, they come from around Scotland and the north of England. There’s even players from Belgium and the Netherlands.
