SCORES of festively decorated tractors took part in two charity tractor runs at the weekend.
Machars Young Farmers are delighted with the turnout of over 50 vans, lorries and tractors at their event on Sunday, which raised £2223.24 for Dumfries and Galloway Sands
They thanked all who entered, lead escort Euan Davidson, the Garlieston Activity Team elves for helping to collect donations, the
volunteers for providing refreshments in Newton Stewart, and Santa for making a special appearance.
And they revealed the prize for the best dressed tractor went to Ian and Murray Stewart.
A club spokesperson said: “A massive shout out to everyone for their kind donations and taking time out of their night to come out and see the tractor run go past, we are blown away and so grateful by the amount of support shown from the community!”
Meanwhile, agri vehicles were also out in force in Kirkcudbright.
Organiser Giselle Brown said: “Wow, what an incredible turn out. It was bigger and better than we had ever imagined it could be in its first year!
“A massive thank you to everyone who participated: the vehicles all looked amazing and we have been so overwhelmed by everyone’s generosity, whether it be in entry fees, cash and food donations or just offers of help.
“I really do hope we can make this an annual event.”
And she thanked the RNLI team, the marshals, the Campbell family from Cally Mains and West Coast Sea Products.
