Traitor's trek will include this area

A STAR of the popular Traitors TV show is coming to Dumfriesshire this autumn as part of an epic charity trek.

Andrew Jenkins appeared in the BBC reality game earlier this year.

And during his time onscreen, he shared the story of his recovery from a near-fatal car crash in 1999.

He suffered a severe brain injury, with doctors predicting he would never walk or talk again.

But, against all odds, Welshman Andrew made a miraculous recovery.

Now he’s keen to raise awareness of and funds for Headway, the brain injury association, so he’s setting off on a 1200 kilometre walk across the UK.

The route will bring him into Dumfries and Galloway, with four stops planned locally, including an overnighters in Sanquhar and Thornhill.

Andrew said: “I am really pleased to be able to take on this challenge. My recovery has been a long journey, and I am passionate about talking about my experiences and encouraging others to talk about the adversities they’ve faced in life. This route is the perfect opportunity and I’m so excited to meet people along the way, and to raise awareness of the incredible work that Headway does for brain injury survivors across the UK.”

‘The Big Trek’ will start on September 29 and he’s expecting to get to Sanquhar on October 15 and Thornhill the next day, followed by Lochmaben and Annan.
