Trial date for man in police assault case

A MAN is to face trial in July on charges of assault including biting a police officer and sexually assaulting a police woman.

Grzegorz Mostowski, 40, of Salterwath Farm, Shap, pleaded not guilty at Dumfries Sheriff Court this week to a total of seven charges involving violence and behaving in a threatening or abusive manner in Kirkcudbright.

He pleaded not guilty to kicking and biting a man in the High Street at Kirkcudbright on April 19 and struggling with police officers and attempt to prevent them putting handcuffs on him.

He also denied three further charges of assaulting police officers by biting one on the body and also seizing him and spitting on another, in addition to a charge of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner, shouting and swearing.

And he denied making a sexual remark to a police woman and attempting to touch her on the body.
