Tribute to ‘perfect son’
TRIBUTE . . . Lewis Chapman

THE family of a young man who died following a car crash near Kirkpatrick Fleming have released a touching tribute.

Lewis Chapman, 22, from Langholm was pronounced dead at the scene following a collision on the B6357 Annan-Canonbie road at Hollee on Friday December 13.

His family this week said: “Lewis really was the perfect son and a credit to everyone who knew him. He’s left an irreplaceable void in his devoted family’s life and will be sorely missed by all.”

Meanwhile, heartfelt messages have also been left on social media for Lewis, who had studied music at Carlisle College of Arts.

He has been described as a “lovely young man”, “kind and respectful”, “so polite” and “the most lovely boy”.

The fatal collision, involving a grey Range Rover, happened at about 8.25 pm.

Another 39-year-old male passenger within the car was taken to the Cumberland Infirmary as a precaution, while the driver of the car, a 38-year-old man, was taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary for treatment. He was later arrested in connection with road traffic offences and released pending further enquiries.

Enquiries remain ongoing to establish the full circumstances and officers continue to appeal for witnesses. Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 3502 of Friday, December 13.
