A charity darts match was held in Locharbriggs Social Club and it raised £1890.52 to purchase a blue box containing equipment for children requiring palliative care. It was organised by Adyn Jackson, of Dumfries, as a tribute to Tyler McQueen who sadly passed away in January. He said: “I knew Tyler’s dad through playing in the local darts league and after hearing of his tragic loss I approached him and asked him if I could do anything for him in memory of Tyler. He mentioned the children’s ward at the hospital as they were so kind and helpful with Tyler, that gave me the idea of a darts challenge match.
“I put the darts match on social media expecting a couple of teams to enter but within 24 hours, I had 40 names come forward. “I can only say a massive thank you to everyone who took part and donated.”
Deputy charge nurse Sarah Gemmell and the ward team are pictured with the donation and she said: “Everyone on the Children’s Ward is hugely appreciative of this fantastic donation, made in the memory of Tyler McQueen, and very grateful to Adyn for his kind actions.”
