THREE much-loved local pie makers from Dumfries and Galloway are in the running for top honours at the 2025 World Championship Scotch Pie Awards.
Grierson Bros of Castle Douglas, J Gillespies & Sons Ltd of Stranraer, and The Little Bakery of Dumfries have all secured a spot on the coveted shortlist.
Now in its 25th year, the prestigious competition saw a record 539 entries from 88 of Scotland’s finest butchers, bakers, and pie makers, all hoping to impress a panel of 50 expert judges.
Pies were judged on everything from taste and texture to appearance and aroma across a variety of categories.
Lesley Cameron, chief executive of Scottish Bakers, said: “Over the past quarter-century, this competition has become the ultimate showcase for the craft, passion, and innovation of Scotland’s butchers, bakers, and pie makers. Every pie tells a story, of heritage recipes passed down through generations, of new ideas pushing the boundaries, and of the sheer dedication to producing products that are loved by communities across the country.”
Winners will be crowned on May 10 at a glittering awards ceremony in Glasgow.
