Trophy tribute for Graham

A NEW trophy will feature at this year’s International Cheese and Dairy Awards, honouring a Dumfriesshire man.

Arla is sponsoring the prize for best UK Cheddar in memory of their colleague Graham Nichol, who passed away last year from cancer.

He worked at the firm since leaving school and was part of the team behind Lockerbie Cheddar.

Arla, who is also a key sponsor of the awards, say it is a fitting tribute to him.

And awards chairman Ian Luxton: “We are excited and honoured to announce Arla Foods as a key sponsor and especially the new trophy in memory of their colleague, Graham Nichol.

“It is important we remember and acknowledge people who have made a significant contribution to the industry and Graham was one of these people. In his honour Arla have created the new award and we are honoured and proud to be awarding it at this year’s event.”

Meanwhile, Graham’s widow Niomi has been announced as a new director at Dumfries and Lockerbie Agricultural Show, following in her husband’s footsteps.
