Twirlers triumph at Scottish contest

IT was twirl-tastic for seven members of Lochside Baton Twirlers Club at the Scottish Championships in Edinburgh.

They showed off their skills and were rewarded with a haul of prizes.

Abbie Johnston became Scottish champion in pre artistic twirl and duet. She also came second in solo twirl, third in two baton and in pre artistic pairs and sixth in artistic performance.

Taylor Louise Dickie became Scottish champion in duet, second in pre artistic pairs, fourth in solo and in two baton.

Jayme Leigh Kimm came second in pre artistic pairs, fourth in duet and seventh in artistic twirl.

Evie Donald was third in solo twirl, pre artistic twirl and in pre artistic pairs, fourth in duet and seventh in two baton.

Thea Stewart and Aaliyah Donald were awarded fifth place in both duet and pre artistic pairs.

Elizabeth Swanson became Scottish champion in two baton, third in solo twirl, fourth in artistic twirl and sixth in short programme. Elizabeth was also awarded with her level 3 coaches award.

Abbie Johnston was also a finalist in athlete of the year for pre artistic twirl.

The girls also competed in team event and came away with third place in juvenile freestyle.

Coach Ashley Howat said: “These girls are very dedicated and have trained hard all season and their hard work has paid off with these amazing results!

The club trains at NWCC school for all classes which is a wonderful facility for our club.”
