‘Unsafe’ pavement fall fears

FEAR has been expressed about someone getting getting injured on a Lockerbie pavement.

Community councillor Lucie Dudgeon flagged up issues in Bridge Street at last week’s meeting.

And she called for action before someone is hurt in the area.

Lucie said: “When is the pavement actually getting done on Bridge Street?

“It’s on the council programme for this year but we’re already in September. They will soon say they cannot do it because it’s winter then everyone has to go another winter after five years of asking.”

Sharing her frustrations, she added: “People are hurting themselves on it, it’s dangerous.

“I think my daughter is going to fall out of her wheelchair when I push her there. It’s ridiculous and just not safe.

“It would be fine if you could cross the road safely but people do not park safely. There are dropped kerbs there but they get parked across. The other side is cracking too. I am scared, really scared.

“People take people in wheelchairs and mobility scooters on the road because it’s safer.”

Annandale North Councillor Carolyne Wilson has taken on the matter.
