AN update about a dispute over pay and pensions which is affecting the Crichton Campus in Dumfries will be heard at a meeting next week.
The event organised by the Dumfries branch of the TUC will take place on Monday February 14 at 7 pm over Zoom and will feature a presentation by David Clelland from the University of Glasgow branch of the University & College Union (UCU).
Ahead of the meeting, Mr Clelland said: “Proposed changes to the lecturers’ pension scheme would result in a 35 per cent cut in expected retirement pay for some members.
“And as regards pay, we have been offered a one per cent pay increase this year, following a 0 per cent increase last year – this at a time when inflation is currently running at over five per cent and is predicted to get higher, and with huge increases in energy prices on the way.”
Strike action at the Crichton Campus will take place for seven days from February 14 to 22 and again from February 28 to March 2, with more dates expected to be announced.
Anyone wishing to attend the meeting should send an email to D>UC secretary John Dennis at [email protected].
