Vouchers have been handed out people aged over 65 to spend in many of the burgh’s shops over the Christmas period.
The scheme — which is the brainchild of former community councillor Carol Rogerson – proved to be extremely popular since beginning in 2021.
And Mrs Rogerson attended the latest community council group meeting where she questioned how it had been recorded and if others had used them.
She said: “How many households had benefited from the vouchers scheme this year compared to last year?”
The community council members revealed they didn’t number the vouchers this time round.
And Mrs Rogerson responded: “This is the first year they’ve not been numbered. I just wonder how you are recording and tracking them if you don’t know who is getting them. How do you know the right people got them? How do you know they haven’t been doubled?
“They should be numbered for security measures. You can cross reference everything you are getting back. Some people didn’t get their vouchers and they’ve been on the list since it started. When you get them all back you can use it and easily find out where they’ve used it.
“A few people got other people’s vouchers. It has to be kept tight and accountable.”
The community council agreed to number the vouchers next time round.
