DUMFRIES and Galloway Regional Youth Choir have recently returned from a trip to Gifhorn in Germany for a special Christmas concert.
The week-long trip saw choir member participate in an intensive programme of rehearsals to prepare for two concerts at St Nicolai church alongside the Gifhorn Twin Town Singers.
Both ensembles performed a variety of Christmas carols and songs, as well as choral pieces, to two packed out audiences. Among the guests at the concerts was the mayor of Gifhorn.
Commenting on the success of the trip, a spokesperson for the choir said: “We performed in the centre of Gifhorn to a packed audience of friends, family, local council members, the Mayor and even some past members of the Gifhorn Twin Town Singers. The choirs received a standing ovation at the end of the concert.
“We then returned to the Humboldt Gymnasium for dinner with our German friends before travelling to Braunschweig for the night. Early start this morning to make it to Amsterdam in time for our ferry back to North Shields.
“It has been a fantastic week with many highs; all of the young people involved have been an absolute credit to us all and we are very proud of everything they have achieved.”
