Following a meeting with industry representatives, South Scotland MSP Joan McAlpine on Tuesday asked the First Minister about the possibility of larger weddings being allowed to go ahead this summer – and flagged up the importance of the marriage market to Dumfries and Galloway.
Ms McAlpine also highlighted concerns from the sector that weddings of 20 people or less are ‘not viable’.
Responding, Nicola Sturgeon said: “We are stuck between economic viability and public safety, but we do want to see marriage ceremonies with more guests and wedding receptions happen as soon as possible.”
