We're having a heatwave . . .

WEDNESDAY was the hottest day on record in 2018 in Dumfries and Galloway, peaking at 28.5 C

That’s the official temperature recorded at Eskdalemuir Magnetic Observatory, a a synoptic meteorological station.

The temperature vastly outshines the hottest day of the year for 2017, which peaked at just 25.3 C on May 26.

Speaking yesterday, Grahame Madge, a Met Office spokesman, said: “People should expect a subtle change in temperature as the it begins to inch down but the warm spell will stick around – it just won’t be topping the hottest day charts.”
