What do you want to see in Lockerbie?

A TOWN meeting to help engage with locals in Lockerbie takes place on Tuesday.

Lockerbie Community Council are hosting the meeting, which is open to all residents, in an attempt to get ideas circulating about how to improve the town.

Key aspects to be discussed include ideas on how best to honour the town’s Olympic medalists David Murdoch, Anna Sloan and Claire Hamilton.

Ever since the triple medal haul at the 2013 Winter Olympics in Sochi, talk has been rife in the town of honouring the Olympic trio.

The idea of transforming the two town entry roundabouts by decorating them with ornamental curling stones was previously mooted.

But the community council want to hear locals’ ideas on upgrading roundabouts, honouring the Olympians – and much more.

Community councillor Ian McLatchie, pictured, said: “This is a chance for people to have their say. I personally want to see as many town groups such as the Pool Trust, Rotary, Scouts come along as well as individuals.

“Together we can come up with some great ideas — and make them happen.”

A meeting will take place on Tuesday November 15 at Lockerbie Town Hall at 6.30 pm. Everyone is invited to attend and offer their ideas and input.
