WAR and Peace, Harry Potter, Wind in the Willows, A Town Called Alice, Tess of the D'Urbervilles, Emma.

How many of these literary classics have you actually read?

What about Winnie the Pooh, Anne of Green Gables, Catcher in the Rye, The Hobbit or Memoirs of A Geisha?

They all appear in a top 100 list of the nation’s best loved novels, along with Great Expectations, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Hamlet and many more.

And apparently the BBC believes most people will only have read six on the list. (Bragging time: I’ve read 40, thanks partly to an English Literature A-Level!)
