The 18-year-old Motherwell loanee was a thorn in the side of the Doonhamers throughout with his quick feet and pace down the right hand side.

Speaking after the match, Ross said: “I thought the boys were really good. We really applied pressure, especially throughout the second half.

“It was just unfortunate I made a mistake (in the lead up to their goal). But I made sure to bounce back in the correct way.

“I’ve been in and out the team. I always make sure I’m trying my best in training and when I’m coming on from the bench.

“That’s probably (my best performance for Annan). I just need to keep performing like that.

“The fans were right behind us today. We just made sure that if we weren’t going to win the game then we weren’t going to get beat.

“I think the result gives us real confidence going into the next game.”

Ross almost won the game late on but was denied after some great defending.
He added: “Max Kilsby plays a really good ball and I take a good first touch. I thought I had him! But I saw the defender come sliding across and he made a good challenge.”

Manager Wullie Gibson was really impressed with the showing from the youngster.

He said: “I thought Luca was excellent, you can see the ability he’s got and the threat that he poses with his pace.

“He is a bit raw, but he’s only a young boy. He did terrifically well in the second half.

“We’ve got him for a full year. I know he’s been a bit part player but the last three or four games where he’s came on as a sub he’s made an impact and earned his place in the team.”
