THORNHILL racing driver Ross Wylie began the 2024 Porsche Carrera Cup GB season with a Pro-Am class podium on Sunday.
The season roared in to action in changeable conditions at Donington Park.
And Wylie ultimately claimed third in class in his Glenturret/Tunnock’s supported 911 GT3 entered and prepared by the Toro Verde GT team.
The opening race had been delayed by four-hours due to adverse weather conditions and the second race cancelled completely.
The 32-year-old eventually started from sixth in the Pro-Am category having held provisional class pole-position around the 1.98-mile, ten-corner ‘National’ circuit.
He mastered the tricky, still slippery track conditions superbly, many cars sliding off the track to bring his Porsche, also supported by local Thornhill sponsors, AL-2 Teknik UK, PyroDry and Carronbridge Sawmill, to a top-result.
Ross said: “It was good to immediately claim a Pro-Am podium and to get back racing.
“Conditions were tough, even though it had stopped raining as the track was still very greasy. I’m looking forward to Brands where hopefully I can show my speed.”
Rounds three and four take place at Brands Hatch in Kent over May 11 and 12.
