Lenzie 35-7 Annan
ON the road this season Annan have not had the best results and, coupled with the fact the hosts have become a bit of a bogey team over the last few seasons, they would have to play at their best to get a result from this match.
The match started very well for the visitors and it was no surprise when Ryan Hetherington scored his tenth try of the season to give his side an early lead, Josh Whiteside with the conversion.
Annan held their lead until the 20th minute when Lenzie hit back with a try of their own.
The match was a tight affair with the both sides creating but not taking their chances.
Unfortunately for Annan, the home side started to exert a bit of pressure and on the half hour mark they crashed over to take a 14-7 lead.
With a boisterous home support behind them, Lenzie started to create a few more chances in the second half.
On the 55th minute it was 21-7, they added another score on the 65th minute and, on the stroke of full time, Lenzie scored their final try and conversion.
Annan coach Juan Phyfer said: “It was a tough one, we deserved a bit more out of it if I’m honest but can’t fault the boy’s effort at all.”
The team return to action on January 11 when they host East Kilbride at Violetbank, 2 pm KO.
