Nithsdale 11-year-old Anderson Black was competing in his first race in the J12 scull beginners event. And the Amisfield Primary pupil beat his nearest rivals from Loch Lomond and Strathclyde Park by at least eight lengths to win.
Another win of the day came from the men’s novice quad composite crew of Andrew Dunce (Nithsdale), Harry Clingan (CUCBC), Graham Dunce (Nithsdale), Ross Morrison (CUCBC) and cox Mathew Leslie (CUCBC).
