A DUMFRIES competitive curling team has secured sponsorship from a local architectural business.
Aitken Turnball announced their support for the junior curling team earlier this week for the forthcoming season.
Team Leigh, comprising of 17-year old Jodi-Leigh Bass, Katie Archibald, 18; Cara Davidson, 19; and 18-year-old Alex McMillian, were initially known to each other having competed at junior level on opposing teams.
Aitken Turnbull’s link to the team is familial, with office coordinator Kat Bass being Jodi-Leigh’s grandmother.
Thanking the firm, skip Jodi-Leigh said: “We are a junior team and sponsorship means a great deal to us. Without it we would struggle to take part in the events and Aitken Turnbull’s support helps us with this.
“This helps towards not just our entry fees and kit but also contributes towards travel, accommodation and ice hire for our team training which improves our development.
“It also helps reduce the worry about funding, allowing us to concentrate on the sport we are so passionate about.
“We have a lot of events this season and are particularly looking forward to upcoming trips to Copenhagen and Stockholm.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for us to learn from strong competitors on the international circuit.”
Kat Bass said: “We wish Team Leigh all the very best. The commitment and dedication the four girls put into their sport greatly impressed us and we were delighted to help with sponsorship.
“They are a fantastic bunch who simply want to be the best they can be and show visible progression as a team.”
