Young farmers raise £1000 for RSABI

A TRACTOR run organised by Machars Young Farmers saw the club raise £1000 for RSABI, the charity which provides practical, emotional, and financial support to people in Scottish agriculture.

The annual fundraising event held earlier this year saw tractors from across Machars gather at Bladnoch Park before setting off on the 26-mile round route through Port William, Mochrum, Whauphill and Sorbie before returning to Bladnoch Park.

A cheque for £1000 was presented to RSABI case officer Mary Anne McWilliam by Machars Young Farmers secretary, Mairi Adams.

Mairi said: “We are delighted to be donating to such a wonderful charity who continue to help many local farmers who are in need. Their #KeepTalking message is vital and something we want to promote to our members of all ages. The tractor run was a fantastic day for all involved and we loved partnering with a charity who do amazing work to help everyone in the farming community.”

Pauline Macmillan, RSABI’s head of fundraising, said: “We’re very grateful to the Machars Young Farmers for choosing to fundraise for RSABI and for their fantastic efforts to raise such a brilliant total to support the charity’s work.

“Our thanks also go to everyone who took part in and supported the tractor run. The sum raised will go towards providing vital emotional, practical and financial support to those who need it in Scottish agriculture.”

RSABI’s free, confidential support service is available 24 hours a day, every day of the year, by calling 0808 1234 555 or through a confidential webchat service at www.rsabi.org.uk.
