The EP features four tracks each written and mastered by the 14-year-old with help from four different producers: Cloubee, ProdbyJXN, Kaiso and Mandumé.
A student at St Joseph’s College, the youngster told the Dumfries Courier of his delight at the progress of his music career, and also spoke about his inspirations and plans for the future.
Joseph said: “I’m really happy because most artists take years to get to my point.
“I don’t have a crazy number of listeners but most artists take years to get signed to a record label and it took me three songs to get signed. However, I’ve still got a long way to go.
“The name for the EP came to my head because my music isn’t really a common genre, it’s more of an underground genre and it’s out of place from the genre UK rap. It is classed as UK chill rap.”
Joseph added: “There are two main artist that’s inspire me, Niko B, he makes music in the same genre I do, and BBNO$.”
When coming up with new material, Joseph writes the lyrics down at night and records them the following morning.
He said: “Most nights I’ll stay up writing songs, for some reason during the night is the best time for me to make music because it all just flows. I can write a song in under three hours then record it in the morning.”
Collaborating with his favourite artists and playing shows across the country is the goal for Joseph, who is targeting a future career within the music industry.
He said: “I want to make a song with Niko B, and play shows up and down the country. I also one day want to play at Glastonbury.
“I don’t want to be too serious, I mean my songs are very out of nowhere and the lyrics aren’t serious at all, but I want to be an established musician.”
‘The out of Place EP’ is available to stream on multiple platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, ITunes, Deezer and Amazon.
Joseph would like to express his thanks to DREAMWRLD Records and all the producers that have made the EP possible.
