Dumfries and Galloway Youth Work Partnership and the Youth Council carried out a survey of 12-25 year olds at the end of last month.
They wanted to find out what impact the pandemic had had on the age group.
And the findings will be delivered to councillors next week.
In a pre-meeting report, young people’s service manager Mark Molloy said: “It is acknowledged that Covid-19 will have a greater impact on some people than others, and we know that the pandemic is having a significant impact on young people and will continue to have a potential long term impact on young people for many years.
“The Youth Work Partnership and the Youth Council agreed to carry out a consultation to understand the impacts of Covid-19 on young people aged 12-25 in Dumfries and Galloway.
“It was important to conduct our own localised consultation in order to evidence young people’s experiences in our unique, rural region.”
Mark revealed the two main topics were about life going back to normal and mental health and said: “This is consistent across all demographics.
“The purpose of this consultation and the findings provide an insight into the experiences of young people across our region as we transition into the next phase of the pandemic. The findings are representative of our region’s demographics and therefore we believe to be a reliable sample of the experiences and priorities of young people.”
The results can be used by young people, organisations working alongside young people, decision makers and public bodies responsible to young people to ensure the services, projects and support provided over the coming months is correct.
