Young police volunteers praised at awards

POLICE Scotland Youth Volunteers (PSYV) Dumfries held their Awards Ceremony in Dumfries last week.

Joined by Lord Lieutenant Fiona Armstrong, Deputy Lieutenant Kate Thomson QPM, the event was compered by Constable Fiona Sword and deputy group co-ordinator Steven Irving.

After the formal opening by Superintendent McMillan, the youths showed off their drill skills by marching in led by piper Euan Grierson, pictured. They were then inspected by Dumfriesshire Area Commander, Chief Inspector Duncan Cameron.

Awards were presented to those who had shown a range of skills throughout their time with the PSYV, as well as Saltire Awards and first aid certificates.

In addition, everyone received awards to mark the completion of their initial PSYV training.
